Being a Alicorn propably just made luna and celestia imortal or something since theyr over a thousand years old. As celestia reguired lunas help to banish Q the first time and they both required the elements to get rid of him I conclude that as per the law of the cutie mark thingy being mostly specialized at whats theyr mark(Controlling the sun and the moon) she can control the sun but she still propably isn't nearly as strong as Twi who's speciality is magic.
And since now neither are connected to the elements they propably couldn't do much vs Q.
Although he coulda give more advise but Q propably woulda just banished her and luna to jelly if she constantly directly assisted the Mane 6, but she did know how Q would operate and spammed spike at the right time.
Im a celestia and luna fan, S2 needs more luna seriously q.q
Also Disqord was kinda push over in part 2, since after they all regained they colors being cleansed of the corruption he shoulda seen it coming. Kind of a let down but meh, 2 episodes for story per season, rest are just for the lulz.
